Developing Research Socialization Strategy @ Health-Tech Startup

Role: UX Research Lead
Client: Calibrate
Core Responsibilities: Initiative proposal, Socialization strategy development, UXR Portal build, Resource research
Tools: Slack, LucidChart, Google Sites/GSuite, Figma, Google

Project Overview:

Calibrate is a growth-stage startup that combines coaching, medication management, and curriculum to provide a holistic approach to weight loss. As the first embedded UX Researcher at Calibrate, there were no current processes in place to socialize ongoing UX Research or findings, leading to lack of visibility and siloed work.

Objectives:

  • Increase visibility into the UX Research process to reduce siloed work

  • Create an avenue for cross-functional access to previous UXR insights

  • Provide opportunities for employees company-wide to learn about and employ UXR methods via self-service.

Solutions Rolled Out:

  1. Led “Weekly UX Research Highlights” initiative by utilizing Slack to share out past research highlights → Promotes access to ongoing research by meeting people where they already are

  2. Created searchable UX Research Repository structure available company-wide while maintaining participant security practices → Offers one location where adjacent teams and senior leadership can go to access past research and findings

  3. Designed and built internal UX Research Portal website → Provides a one-stop shop where teams can submit research requests, view past research, and learn about and/or self-service UX Research by reading through various method overviews & how-to’s.
